This is the second volume in Nguyễn Việt Hương’s elementary Vietnamese series for non-native learners. It is best suited to people who already have basic Vietnamese and want a structured next step rather than a complete beginner’s first book.

The book has 12 lessons, including 10 teaching units and two reviews. Lessons cover familiar situations such as buying things, family, finding places, telling time, dates, weather, and phone calls. You work through dialogues, vocabulary and sentence patterns, grammar notes, readings, practice tasks, and homework designed to build listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Its strongest feature is the clear classroom-style progression and balance of explanation and practice. It can also support guided self-study if you can check your work with a teacher or partner. The main drawbacks are that it assumes earlier knowledge, has no published CEFR level, and audio is bundled inconsistently across sellers, so check the exact edition before buying.
