Information we use
Website and security
When you visit the website, our servers and service providers process technical details sent by your browser, such as your IP address and browser and device information. We use this information to deliver the website, prevent abuse, investigate problems, and distinguish normal visitors from automated traffic.
Analytics
If you enable analytics, we record how the website is used. This can include pages viewed, links and controls used, scroll depth, where a visit came from, filters or other information in the page address, browser and device details, network information, and your country as inferred from your IP address. We also create coded identifiers from technical details so we can understand repeat visits without attaching analytics to your name or email address.
We use analytics to improve the layout and usability of the website, find bugs, decide what to build next, measure which content is useful, and filter automated or malicious traffic. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Sign-in and account
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We store these details to create and manage your account. Your account can also contain bookmarks, newsletter preferences, and a history of resources whose links you have opened while signed in.
If analytics is disabled, opening a resource link while signed in records only the account, resource, and type of action needed for your account history. It does not add optional analytics information about your browser or device.
Messages and newsletter
If you contact us, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit so we can reply. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we use your email address and subscription preference to send it to you. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Cookies and browser storage
Some cookies and local browser storage are necessary to keep sign-in, security, privacy settings, and site controls working. The website may remember actions you take so that controls behave consistently on later visits. This necessary storage is not used for advertising.
With your permission, we also use browser storage and our own event tracking for analytics, offer Google One Tap, and load interactive maps. You can accept, reject, or change these optional uses at any time through in the footer. You can also remove browser storage through your browser settings, although doing so may reset your preferences and signed-in state.
Google sign-in
Google Identity Services loads when you open the sign-in page so you can sign in with Google. On other pages, it loads only if you enable Google One Tap. Google processes the authentication and technical information needed to provide that service and may use cookies or similar technologies.
Interactive maps
Location pages can display an interactive map using map tiles from CARTO. The map connects to CARTO only after you enable interactive maps, and CARTO then receives technical information needed to deliver the map, including your IP address.
External and affiliate links
The website links to third-party websites, apps, and stores. When you follow a link, the destination receives technical information needed to open the page, such as your IP address and browser details, and may learn which page sent you. It handles this information under its own privacy policy. Some links are affiliate links, which means the destination may recognize that your visit came from VietnameseLessons.com and we may earn a commission if you make a purchase. We do not send the destination your account or contact details.
Who may receive information
We use service providers for hosting, security, content delivery, storage, and email delivery. They process information only as needed to provide those services. Google and CARTO receive information when you use the services described above, and a third-party website receives information when you choose to visit it. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect the website and its users.
Some providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we rely on safeguards recognized by applicable data-protection law for these transfers.
How long we keep information
- Analytics data: up to 365 days.
- Your privacy choice: in your browser for up to 6 months, unless you clear it sooner.
- Browser storage: until it is overwritten by the website or cleared by the browser.
- Account data: for as long as your account exists, unless a longer period is required for legal or security reasons.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
- Messages: until they are no longer needed to handle your request or related follow-up.
- Server and security data: for the period needed to operate the service, investigate abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
You can withdraw consent for analytics, Google One Tap, interactive maps, or newsletter emails at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place while your consent was valid. You can also request deletion of your account.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, receive a copy, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or transfer it to another service. You may also have the right to appeal our response and complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website or its data practices change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
