This is the second book in Learn Vietnamese With Annie's beginner series, so it is best for learners who already finished Book 1 and want to keep building in Southern Vietnamese. It focuses on everyday spoken Vietnamese from the south, especially Saigon-style usage, rather than the northern standard found in many textbooks.

The book teaches through linked comic-style chapters about a Saigonese family. Each chapter adds new vocabulary and sentence patterns, then gives you a glossary plus short language insights that explain usage and grammar in plain English. That makes it approachable for self-study if you like learning through dialogues instead of dense explanations.

What makes it more useful than a print-only textbook is the companion audio, which supports listening and repeat-after-listening practice. The downside is that it is still a book-based course. The grammar notes are brief, there is no built-in speaking feedback, and it really works as a continuation resource rather than a true starting point if you have not done Book 1.
