VMonkey

VMonkey is a mobile app for preschool and primary-age children who are learning to read Vietnamese. It is built by Early Start as part of the Monkey learning ecosystem, and it is much more focused on literacy than on everyday conversation. If you want a child-friendly app with stories, read-aloud audio, and structured phonics practice, this is the kind of resource it is. If you are an adult learner, it will likely feel too young and too school oriented.

The app combines three main parts: interactive stories, audiobooks, and a phonics and spelling track. Its official materials describe 700+ stories, 300+ audiobooks, and 112 phonics lessons aligned with Vietnam's newer primary curriculum. What makes VMonkey useful is that it gives children a lot of listening and reading exposure in one place. The App Store listing also says it includes both Northern and Southern Vietnamese accents, which is genuinely helpful for families who care about dialect exposure. The tradeoff is that it is not a general Vietnamese app for all learners. It does not focus on free conversation, adult grammar study, or real-world speaking practice, and much of the full content sits behind paid plans even though the app itself is free to download.
