Colloquial Vietnamese
A step-by-step self-study course with practical dialogues, regional pronunciation notes, exercises, answer keys, and free native-speaker audio.
Vietnamese as a Second Language 2 is the second book in a six-volume textbook series created by Vietnamese studies lecturers in Ho Chi Minh City. It is for learners who know the basics and want a structured next step.
You work through 12 lessons on practical topics such as shopping, phone calls and messages, renting a room, travel, and hobbies. Lessons combine everyday dialogues and model sentences with short grammar notes, vocabulary, and varied exercises. The book introduces about 500 new words, while lessons 6 and 12 review earlier material.
The clear progression works well for classroom study or self-study with a regular plan, and English support helps with explanations. The trade-off is a traditional textbook experience with no built-in speaking feedback. The publisher gives no CEFR level, and its official shop currently lists the print edition as out of stock.
