Vietnamese Dictionary

VDict is a free online dictionary site for looking up Vietnamese, English, and some French words. It is most useful if you want quick meaning checks while reading or studying vocabulary. Beginners can use it, but it works better as a reference tool than as a step by step learning resource.

The main draw is that you can search across several dictionaries at once, including Vietnamese-English, English-Vietnamese, Vietnamese-Vietnamese, and Vietnamese-French. It also lets you browse words by letter, use wildcard search, and check similar spellings if you are not sure about a word. For English entries, you also get phonetic transcription and audio pronunciation.

There is also a built-in English-Vietnamese translation tool for short passages up to 500 characters. That can help for a quick check, but the site is still mainly about word lookup, not full lessons or guided practice. Some entries now include longer explanatory text, but if you want clear beginner grammar teaching, speaking practice, or carefully curated example sentences, you will need other resources alongside it.
