Vietnam Now! A Vietnamese Language Reader
A bilingual Vietnamese-English reader with graded news articles, literature, notes, exercises, photos, and native-speaker audio.
Ellie's Secret Diary is a short Vietnamese-English children's book about a schoolgirl who hides that she is being bullied. Told in the first person through diary entries, it is aimed at school-age readers and works best when a parent, teacher, or other adult can discuss the story with them.
You read the story in parallel Vietnamese and English, so you can compare meaning, sentence patterns, and everyday vocabulary as the plot develops. The book also includes advice and information about bullying, plus prompts for discussion and reflection. Its diary format gives the language a personal, emotional context rather than presenting isolated word lists.
This is useful as a focused reader, not as a complete Vietnamese program. It does not teach grammar in a structured sequence or provide broad topic coverage. The Vietnamese softback is compatible with Mantra Lingua's TalkingPEN, but using that audio feature requires separate hardware.
