Lingora
Beginner Vietnamese app with 500 sentence-based lessons, word-by-word notes, quizzes, and vocab review in both Northern and Southern audio.
Duolingo is a mobile app for people who want a low-pressure way to start Vietnamese. If you are completely new and want a few minutes of study each day, it gives you a clear path of short lessons, review sessions, and streak goals. You can find the app on the App Store and Google Play.
The Vietnamese course is built around quick exercises where you match words, fill in blanks, translate short sentences, and listen to audio prompts. That works well for building basic vocabulary, recognizing common sentence patterns, and getting regular exposure without planning your own study routine. The app also tracks progress well, so it is easy to keep showing up.
Where it falls short is depth. Duolingo is better for practice than for fully explaining how Vietnamese works, so grammar and usage can feel thin if you rely on it alone. It also does not give you much real conversation practice, and many learners find the drills repetitive over time. For most people, it makes the most sense as a starter app or a daily review tool, not your only Vietnamese resource.
