Mango Languages
Mango Languages is a mobile app for learning Vietnamese through short, structured lessons. It fits beginners best, especially if you want a clear path instead of picking random vocab lists. It is also a practical option if your public library gives you free access, since Mango is widely offered through library systems.
Lessons are built around short conversations that get broken down piece by piece. You hear native-speaker audio, see translations, and work through vocabulary, sentence patterns, grammar notes, and culture notes as you go. The app also includes a voice comparison tool, so you can record yourself and compare your pronunciation to the model audio. Review is built into the app with spaced repetition, which helps with remembering useful phrases.
What Mango does well is structure. It explains more than many game-style apps, so you are not just guessing patterns from examples. That said, it is still mainly a self-study course. You will get guided speaking and pronunciation practice, but not real back-and-forth conversation with a teacher or language partner.
