LingoDeer
A structured Vietnamese app with short lessons, native-speaker audio, grammar notes, SRS reviews, speaking practice, and a travel phrasebook.
Rosetta Stone Classic is a self-study mobile course for learners who want a steady introduction to Northern Vietnamese. It uses image association and Vietnamese audio instead of leading with English explanations. The app is now positioned mainly for people who already have a Classic subscription, though a trial is available.
You work through 12 units with core lessons and shorter drills for vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, speaking, and pronunciation. TruAccent scores your speech as you repeat words and sentences, while native Hanoi-accented recordings give you a consistent model. Lessons can be downloaded for offline study, and most sessions are designed to fit into about 10 minutes.
The visual method is useful if you like learning from context and repetition, but it does not explain Vietnamese tones or grammar in much depth. Mobile users also miss the writing activities available on the web version. There is no Vietnamese Phrasebook in Classic, and repeating fixed prompts is not a substitute for open-ended conversation with a speaker.
