Description

This is a beginner Vietnamese workbook for kids in community or heritage-language classes. Even though the level is called mẫu giáo, matching textbook materials describe it as the first class in a Vietnamese program for children who already know the Latin alphabet from school. That makes it a better fit for young heritage learners than for adult beginners.

The book follows a very classroom-style sequence. You get letter and tone drills, spelling and rewrite exercises, short vocabulary items with some English glosses, simple reading lines, color or fill-in tasks, and regular quizzes and tests. That structure is useful if you want a clear path from recognizing letters to reading basic words and sentences.

Where it falls short is self-study support. It is mostly a workbook, so explanations are brief and repetition does a lot of the teaching. You do not get audio, conversation practice, or much grammar guidance. If you are teaching a child at home or using it in a weekend Vietnamese class, it makes sense. If you want a complete standalone course, it will feel limited.
