Description

This is a school-style beginner workbook for children from Vietnamese families abroad who are learning Vietnamese as a second language. It is meant for guided study with a parent or teacher.

The 18 lessons introduce letters and letter groups in sequence. You practice spelling syllables with all six tones, copying words, reading short sentences, and learning vocabulary for numbers, colors, family, time, days, body parts, seasons, and animals. Short English glosses help bilingual families follow the exercises.

The clear progression and repeated drills make it easy to assign a few pages at a time. Six quizzes, a midterm, and a final give you regular review points. The trade-off is a repetitive, print-only approach. There is no audio for hearing tones, no answer key, and little direct grammar or conversation work, so support from a Vietnamese-speaking adult is valuable.
