VTM1 is a free podcast from Vitamese for learners who want more exposure to Southern Vietnamese. It works best if you want short, manageable listening practice rather than a full step by step course. Beginners can use it, especially if you pair it with the transcripts and the beginner materials on the Vitamese website.

The episodes are short, usually around 6 to 13 minutes, and cover everyday topics like food, holidays, parks, traffic, and city life. New episodes were still being released in early 2026 on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, so it looks active. Episode notes link to transcripts, which makes it easier to replay and check what you heard.

What makes VTM1 useful is the focus on natural Southern Vietnamese and culture, not just isolated textbook phrases. The wider Vitamese site also includes short pronunciation videos and culture articles, so you can keep working on the same dialect outside the podcast. The tradeoff is that this is still mainly input. You are not getting exercises, speaking feedback, or a structured curriculum inside the podcast itself, so you may want something else for grammar and conversation practice.
