The book is aimed at tourists, students, and business travelers more than long term learners.

Where it falls short is depth. You are not getting a structured grammar course, graded reading, or much room for active practice beyond repeating phrases and using the audio. That makes it handy for survival speaking and pronunciation, but limited if your goal is building strong conversation skills or understanding how Vietnamese works in detail.
