Pimsleur

Pimsleur is a mobile app for learners who want to start speaking Vietnamese from day one, especially if you like learning by listening instead of working through long grammar notes. The core of the app is one level of 30 daily audio lessons, each about 30 minutes. The lessons are built around listen and respond practice, so you spend a lot of time hearing a phrase, recalling it, and saying it aloud. For Vietnamese, Pimsleur also lists reading lessons, digital flashcards, quizzes, Speak Easy conversation review, and AI voice coaching for pronunciation.

What it does well is structure and speaking confidence. If you want a clear routine and lots of guided repetition, it works well for building basic phrases, listening habits, and pronunciation. It is also easy to fit into a commute or walk.

The main limitation is depth. Vietnamese currently has just one 30-lesson level, so you will outgrow it fairly quickly. It also is not the best choice if you want detailed grammar explanations, lots of free-form writing, or real conversation with other people. It works best as a strong speaking-focused start, not a complete long-term program.
