Description

CSUF's National Resource Center for Asian Languages uses this website as a catalog and ordering point for Vietnamese children's books. It is mainly for families, teachers, and PreK-12 heritage-language programs seeking reading material rather than a general Vietnamese course.

The collection combines leveled readers for literacy development with illustrated stories selected through NRCAL's Vietnamese Book Writing Competition. Many stories are written by children and center Vietnamese American family, community, culture, and identity. CSUF reported in April 2026 that the project had produced more than 100 Vietnamese children's books.

You use the site to learn about the collection and continue to a university storefront to order books. Its main strength is child-focused reading grounded in U.S. Vietnamese communities. It is not a complete self-study system. The site provides no curriculum, CEFR levels, dialect labels, quizzes, or guided vocabulary review, so beginners may need support from a parent or teacher.
