National Resource Center For Asian Languages

This is the Vietnamese books page from CSUF's National Resource Center for Asian Languages. It is aimed mostly at children, families, teachers, and heritage learners who want simple Vietnamese reading material. The collection includes leveled books for literacy development plus illustrated storybooks created through NRCAL's Vietnamese Book Writing Competition.

What you get here is reading-focused content rather than a full course. NRCAL says its Community Literacy Project was built to increase educational resources for classrooms and households, and its newsletters describe K-12 Vietnamese leveled readers from Level A through Level D. The books are designed to help teachers and parents guide children into reading Vietnamese with more confidence.

The main strength is that the books are purpose-built for early literacy and biliteracy, not just random stories posted online. Many titles are tied to children's experiences and Vietnamese American community themes, which makes them especially useful for heritage learners. The tradeoff is that this is a narrow resource. It does not give you speaking practice, grammar instruction, or an interactive learning path. Also, the current books page points learners to order the books rather than browse a large free online library, so it works better as a reading supplement than as your main study tool.
