VietSyllables

Edit this resource

VietSyllables is a free, interactive Vietnamese syllable chart for learners who want to get comfortable with Vietnamese sounds. It is especially useful if you are focusing on Northern pronunciation and want a fast way to hear lots of syllables on demand.

On the main VietSyllables site, you filter the chart by vowel and final type, then choose which tones to play. Clicking a cell plays the syllable in the tone(s) you selected, which makes it handy for tone and syllable drilling when you do not know what to practice next.

There is also a Minimal Pairs Practice section that groups words by tone sets and sound contrasts, so you can train your ear on small differences. Some syllable pages include short meanings pulled from a dictionary dataset, which can help you connect sounds to real words.

What it does not do is teach through a structured course or give speaking feedback. It is best as a pronunciation reference and ear training tool alongside a textbook, teacher, or conversation practice.
