italki
italki is a mobile app for finding and booking 1-on-1 lessons with real language tutors. If you want to learn Vietnamese by speaking with a teacher, this is mainly a tutoring marketplace, not a self-paced course app.
Inside the app, you can browse tutor profiles, compare prices, message teachers, book trial lessons, and join classes from your phone. Lesson lengths are flexible, teachers set their own rates, and you can use italki Classroom or another video platform. There is also an optional italki Plus subscription with AI study tools, but the main draw is still live tutoring.
The tradeoff is that your experience depends a lot on the tutor you pick. Some teachers bring clear lesson plans and homework, while others focus more on conversation. The app also does not give you one built-in Vietnamese curriculum, so beginners may need a teacher who can provide structure or combine it with separate study materials. Costs can stay reasonable for occasional lessons, but they add up if you rely on it as your main study tool.
