Gus on the Go: Vietnamese is a paid mobile app for young kids who are just starting Vietnamese. It works best as a first exposure tool, especially if you want something playful instead of a textbook. On the official Gus on the Go page, the company says it is recommended for ages 2 to 6, and both the App Store and Google Play list it as a paid children’s learning app.

What you get is a small set of interactive vocabulary lessons with native Vietnamese audio. The app teaches nearly 90 words across themes like animals, food, transportation, clothes, numbers, colors, body parts, and shapes. There are 10 activities, review sections after lessons, and simple games that unlock as you move along. It is designed to keep children tapping, listening, and repeating words rather than studying grammar or building full sentences.

That makes it useful for basic listening, word recognition, and early pronunciation practice. It is also parent friendly because the store listings say it has no ads or in-app purchases. The tradeoff is that the scope is narrow. This is not a full Vietnamese course, it does not teach much grammar, and older reviews on the App Store mention that kids can finish the content fairly quickly. If you want a gentle vocabulary app for children, it fits well. If you need deeper study or conversation practice, you will outgrow it fast.
