Vietnamese Headstart2 is a free self-study website from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. It is aimed at beginners and works best if you want a structured introduction rather than a casual app. The course is especially relevant for learners who want survival-style Vietnamese with a military or fieldwork angle, but it can still help any beginner build a base in pronunciation, reading, and core phrases.

The course is split into two main parts. Sound and Script covers the basics of the language in short interactive tasks, while the Military unit adds mission-focused vocabulary and scenario training. DLIFLC says Headstart2 includes audio, grammar notes, culture notes, a glossary, language tools, and certificates, and its product search describes it as about 100 hours of basic language training.
