Learn Vietnamese With Jane is a free YouTube channel built like a self-study course for learners who want to speak and understand Southern Vietnamese. It is friendly to complete beginners and starts with the basics like sounds, tones, and simple sentence building.

You work through video series on the Vietnamese alphabet, pronunciation, tones, personal pronouns, and common sentence structures. There are also themed vocabulary lessons and “practice listening” and “test your Vietnamese” videos that push you to understand longer spoken Vietnamese, not just isolated words.

It works best if you like learning from clear explanations and repeating along with audio. The tradeoff is that it is still YouTube, so you do not get speaking feedback or real conversation practice, and progress depends on how consistently you follow the playlists and do your own review.
