Edit this resource

VnExpress is a major Vietnamese-language online newspaper. It’s best for learners who already know some Vietnamese and want real, current articles to read instead of textbook dialogues.

You get a constant stream of short-to-long pieces across sections like Thời sự, Thế giới, Kinh doanh, Giáo dục, Sức khỏe, and more on the VnExpress homepage. The writing style is standard news Vietnamese, so it’s great for building formal vocabulary, headlines, and common collocations.

If you like a routine, VnExpress also offers free email newsletters you can subscribe to at VnExpress Newsletters, which can be a nice “one bundle a day” reading habit.

What it doesn’t do is teach Vietnamese. There are no graded levels, glossaries, or learner-friendly explanations, and many articles assume cultural context and background knowledge. A good approach is to pick one topic you already follow, read with a pop-up dictionary, and save useful phrases.
