Vietnamese Idiomatic Expressions (Vietnamese Typography)

Idiom Quick Lookup

Vietnamese Idiomatic Expressions is a free web page that lists Vietnamese idioms alphabetically and gives a short English translation for each one. It works best if you already know basic Vietnamese spelling and want a fast way to look up or review idiomatic phrases while reading.

The list is organized by letter sections (including A/Ă/Â) and is easy to scan. Entries are simple, usually just the idiom plus an English meaning, so you can quickly confirm what a phrase is getting at without digging through long explanations. You can use it alongside stories or articles when an idiom stops you mid-paragraph.

What it does not do is teach usage in depth. There are no example sentences, notes on tone or register, audio, or practice exercises, and some English glosses are more “closest meaning” than a true word-for-word match. If you want context and repetition, you will still need a fuller dictionary or a textbook, but as a lightweight reference page it is handy. You can browse it here: Idiomatic Expressions.
