Tôma Thiện

Edit this resource

Tôma Thiện’s main book resource is the Tiếng Nước Tôi series, a set of Vietnamese textbooks and workbooks used by the school at St. Joseph Vietnamese Catholic Parish in Grand Prairie, Texas. It is aimed mostly at children and heritage learners, with levels from Pre-K and kindergarten up through grade 9. If you want a structured, school-style path instead of random worksheets, this is the main draw.

What you get is more than a single book. On the school website, each grade is broken into lessons with Sách Học and Bài Tập PDFs, and many pages also include extra animated files. The progression is clear and age-based, so it covers early literacy, reading, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar in a way that feels built for weekend community classes.

This is most useful if you are teaching children at home, helping a heritage learner keep up with Vietnamese, or following along with a parish or community program. It is less ideal for adult beginners who want speaking-first practice, and the books do not clearly label a specific dialect. I also could not find much independent review coverage, so most of the picture comes from the official site and resource listings.
