The core course uses Rosetta Stone’s “Dynamic Immersion” style: you infer meaning from images, then practice reading and speaking in short activities. Pronunciation practice is a big focus, with TruAccent speech recognition scoring how close your spoken words are to the model audio.

A subscription also includes extras like Stories (short readings with audio and tap-to-see vocabulary) and a built-in Phrasebook for common travel situations. You can study on web or mobile, and the mobile app supports offline lessons, which is handy for commuting or travel.

The main drawback is that it doesn’t spend much time explicitly teaching grammar, tones, or “why it works,” so some learners feel lost and end up needing a tutor, textbook, or YouTube explanations alongside it. If you want clear grammar notes and translations first, this may feel slow or frustrating.
