Happy After All
Bilingual Migration Story
Happy After All is a bilingual English–Vietnamese picture book for young kids, families, and classrooms. It follows a girl and her dad as they move to a new country and work through worries about leaving home.
You get a 28-page paperback with both languages in the same book, so you can read in English, then check the Vietnamese, or use the Vietnamese to support a child’s home language. The story theme makes it especially relevant for immigrant families and teachers working with multilingual students.
If you use Mantra Lingua’s PENpal/TalkingPEN system, the book is TalkingPEN enabled and you can download audio through their FreeLINK library. That adds listening support, but it is optional and requires separate equipment. There are also free teacher notes and a lesson plan aimed at early elementary activities.
It’s great for shared reading and comfort with everyday language, but it’s not a structured Vietnamese course. You will not get exercises, grammar explanations, or speaking practice unless you create those yourself.
