Anki

Anki is a spaced-repetition flashcard app for learners who want a long-term way to remember Vietnamese words, example sentences, and tone-marked phrases. It works best if you like self-study and don’t mind a bit of setup.

You can make your own cards or import premade decks, then review daily. Anki schedules each card based on how well you remember it, so you spend more time on hard items and less time on easy ones. Cards can include audio, images, and video, which is useful for Vietnamese sentence cards and listening recall.

The desktop app is free and syncs through AnkiWeb. On phones, Android uses AnkiDroid, while the official iOS app (AnkiMobile) is a paid one-time purchase. Anki is great for vocabulary retention, but it won’t teach you Vietnamese by itself, so you’ll still want a course or speaking practice alongside it.
